State police: Man charged in Columbus home invasion report
A man is being held on $25,000 bond after he was arrested in connection with an armed home invasion in the Columbia region last month, according to police.
John Paul Williams, 29, is charged with burglary, armed criminal action, criminal mischief and simple assault.
He was being held Monday afternoon in the Hamilton County jail on a $25k bond, police said.
Williams is accused of breaking into a home in the 500 block of South Columbia Avenue, police wrote in a news release.
He allegedly stole a cellphone and several handguns from a residence and entered the home, where he allegedly confronted and threatened a woman.
Williams then allegedly forced his way into a nearby home, police added.
Williams was able to enter the home through the back door and was able retrieve the guns.
He also allegedly forced the woman into a bedroom and took her wallet.
He is being charged with simple assault and burglary.
